Beginner Yoga - We all feel better after delicious stretches, breath work, moving our bodies, laughing with friends and working our neglected muscles. This class is for anyone who is looking to move a little more, learn some yoga basics, improve their sense of wellbeing, create more ease in their body and connect with other friendly people.
We are a small group in a comfortable friendly space where you can explore movement at your own pace.
What to expect from this class:
I have a lovely studio in the West End of Sudbury. It's a cozy room decorated with twinkle lights, stained glass, warm pine floors, a fire place and about 6 friendly participants.
I usually start class by singing a soothing mantra. We like to begin with rotating joints; neck, wrists, elbows, shoulders, knees and ankles. Sometimes we even get a head and face massage in.
Next is some stretching; arms, back, legs. Then it's time for some postures to stretch and strengthen. When we're ready to stand we always start by opening up the feet and then getting some nice forward folds in. Now that we're standing we might do a couple of Sun Salutations, just enough to challenge but not enough to be overwhelming. Then we'll do some balance poses and whatever else is needed by the bodies in the room.
Now it's back to the floor for a bit of twisting or hip opening before our relaxation. Relaxation or Svasana as it's called is the final part to our activity. Grab a pillow for under your knees and a blanket to cover you up. I'll talk you through a guided meditation with music playing softly in the background.
When this is complete, we slowly sit up and share a moment of post yoga bliss as we say our farewell blessing.
The feel of this class is lighthearted, connected, playful and warm. It's your class so I make sure you get what you need. You can expect the other students to smile and make conversation with you. You will leave feeling nourished, cared for and a part of a community of kindness.
